Facilitating Community Conversations to Address Early Care and Education Issues in North Carolina

In a statewide initiative focused on early care and education addressing suspensions, expulsions, and exclusions, Tiffany led a project designed to gather valuable community feedback. Over the course of several months, she facilitated eight listening sessions in different regions of North Carolina, engaging diverse stakeholders to ensure all voices were represented.

Tiffany was responsible for designing the process, from developing a comprehensive question guide to collaborating with local organizations that hosted the sessions. Each session, lasting two hours, was structured to allow participants to share their experiences and insights openly. A statewide foundation funded this initiative, and their support allowed for wide-reaching community engagement.

Beyond the listening sessions, she also developed and conducted a survey to gather additional data. After analyzing all the findings, she compiled the results into a final report, which was presented to the coalition responsible for the initiative. The feedback gathered played a crucial role in shaping the approach and future communications around early care and education policies in the state.
